Really miss this lady and her voice on the current music charts. Can’t think of music in the 80s and 90s without including Anita Baker!
Baker became a household name with her breakout album, Rapture, in 1986. With tracks like No One in the World, Sweet Love, and Caught Up in the Rapture, the album went on to sell over eight million copies and helped win Baker two Grammys in 1987 for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance (Caught Up in the Rapture) and Best R&B Song (Sweet Love).
Also on the album is the lesser known Mystery. Though not released as a single, Baker’s signature sultry tones made it a favorite of die-hard fans and led to Mystery receiving moderate airplay.
The video is a live performance from Anita’s One Night of Rapture concert.
Enjoy!

Mystery
Holding on to misty memories
Chasing shadows through the night
Trying to find my happy ending
We could still find a way if we try
Like it used to be
We were more than lonely drifters in the dark
I can remember the sun inside
Love held us tight
I need to feel your magic in my heart
Instead of it tearing apart
Lying soft and warm together
Only images survive
Can’t my dreams go on forever
Let the secrets of love start to smile
Like it used to be
Baby bring back all the passion to my heart
I can remember the tender days, all the love we made
Can’t you see in me your magic here tonight
It’s a silent song that’s never meant to be
Since the dawn of time the mystery never ends
We could find forever if we let love rise again
We can still find the way if you try
Like it used to be
Baby bring back all the passion to my heart
I can remember the tender days, all the love we made
I need to feel your magic here tonight
